North Foreland Golf Club
Spectacular Clifftop Golf with Panoramic Sea Views
North Foreland Golf Club offers seaside golf at its absolute best, perched dramatically on the chalk cliffs above Broadstairs with stunning panoramic views from every tee and green. Founded in 1903 and redesigned by Herbert Fowler and Tom Simpson in 1913, this magnificent clifftop course provides year-round golf on free-draining downland terrain, making it one of Kent’s premier all-weather destinations.
Championship Clifftop Heritage
North Foreland’s prestigious history includes serving as a Final Qualifying venue for The 2003 Open Championship, testament to its championship credentials. The course has hosted numerous tournaments throughout its 120-year history and continues to challenge golfers with its unique clifftop setting where sea breezes and spectacular vistas create an unforgettable golfing experience.
Two Distinctive Golf Experiences
- Main Course: Championship 18-hole par-71 layout stretching 6,412 yards with sea views from every hole
- Strategic Design: Broad fairways with strategically placed bunkers and deceptively challenging greens
- Northcliffe Par-3 Course: Superb 18-hole short course (50-140 yards) perfect for all abilities
- All-Weather Golf: Free-draining chalk downland ensures no temporary greens or tees year-round
- Recent Enhancements: Three-year bunker renovation completed with natural, rough-edged designs
Modern Clubhouse & Facilities
The modern, bright clubhouse overlooks both courses and the English Channel, featuring panoramic views from the upstairs bar and balcony. The award-winning carvery restaurant serves fresh, locally-prepared cuisine with spectacular sea views. Comprehensive facilities include a driving range, pro shop run by PGA professional Darren Parris, changing rooms, and function facilities for weddings and corporate events.
Open Championship Qualifying Pedigree
The course’s championship credentials were confirmed when it served as a Final Qualifying venue for The 2003 Open Championship. The layout features signature holes including the 455-yard 9th called “Home” and the challenging clifftop par-3s that test accuracy against coastal winds. Wide fairways provide confidence from the tee, but strategically placed bunkers and fast greens demand precision on approach shots.
