Royal St George's Golf Club
Championship Links Golf at Its Finest in Sandwich
Royal St George’s Golf Club stands as England’s premier Open Championship venue and one of the world’s most revered links courses. Located in the spectacular dunes of Sandwich Bay, Kent, this legendary course has hosted 15 Open Championships since 1894, making it the first English club to host golf’s oldest Major.
Historic Championship Heritage
Founded in 1887 by Dr William Laidlaw Purves, Royal St George’s was designed to rival Scotland’s finest links courses. The club has crowned Open champions including Collin Morikawa, Darren Clarke, Ben Curtis, Greg Norman, Sandy Lyle, Bill Rogers, Bobby Locke, Henry Cotton, Walter Hagen, Harry Vardon, and John Henry Taylor. The course gained Royal patronage in 1902, with King Edward VII serving as the first royal patron.
